FinDev Canada is Canada’s bilateral Development Finance Institution (DFI), supporting development through the private sector. We provide financing, investment, and blended finance solutions, as well as technical assistance and knowledge, to promote sustainable and inclusive growth in Latin America & the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indo-Pacific region, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Paris Agreement commitments.

The corporation’s efforts to mobilize private investment in and into emerging markets and developing economies are guided by FinDev Canada’s commitment towards:

• Climate action: Building low-carbon and climate-resilient economies, including through sustainable infrastructure;

• Market development: Developing markets to support quality job creation, capital markets and access to finance, products and services that raise living standards and add value to local and regional economies; and

• Women’s economic empowerment: Mainstreaming gender equality investment activities to support women’s economic empowerment, gender equality, and improve business performance.

FinDev Canada’s lending and investment, as well as its Technical Assistance solutions, are directed towards three sectors:

• Financial Intermediaries, including banks, non-bank financial institutions and investment funds with the intent of strengthening access to financial services;

• Agribusiness and its related value chains, including forestry, with the intent of supporting food security, strengthening economic conditions, and addressing opportunities to support climate action.

• Sustainable Infrastructure, with the intent of supporting the development of low-carbon, climate-resilient infrastructure in the water, power, transportation and digital sub-sectors.
